Today..

Hej girls! Thank you super much for friday night, I had a lot of fun and a really good evening - hope you enjoyed it as well and didnt get lost on the way back from the countryside to the city ;).

As for today I really had planed to go to the university, put in some work hours, but Im a bit sick.. Nothing major, but I think Im just gonna stay on the sofa, watch the Robinson re-run on tv, sleep a lot and drink tea.

Hope to see you tomorrow,

Here we go again..

So its the final moment for this class and here comes my inspiration: Complexe Geometries.

"Sacred geometry is geometry used in the design of sacred architecture and sacred art. The basic belief is that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportion are also found in music, light, and cosmology. This value system has been found even in human prehistory and is considered by some to be a cultural universal of the human condition. Sacred geometry is foundational to the building of sacred structures such as temples, mosques, megaliths, monuments and churches; sacred spaces such as altars, temenoi and tabernacles; meeting places such as sacred groves, village greens and holy wells and the creation of religious art, iconography and using "divine" proportions. Sacred geometry-based arts may also be ephemeral, such as found in visualization, sandpainting and medicine wheels." (wikipedia.org)

I have always been interested in exploring unexpected ways to work with shapes and materials when it comes to clothes. So this is what Im gonna do. Goal is a small collection (yes, Im gonna be there in the weekends as well, haha).

On a sidenote: Gonna go to the university on monday (around 10 o'clock) to sketch a bit. Felt a bit shaky this morning so Im taking it slow.

Say Hi To... My Dream Dress!

It's done! After four intense weeks of researching, sketching, groupwork and sewing, my dress is finished. Its in different shades of black (yeah, big surprise there) and in fake-leather, plast, metal and everything else amazing. It is fitting like a glove. Its transformable - with the cowl on it is dramatic, without chic and simple. Im not gonna wear it to go groceries shopping .. but Im sure gonna find the right event.

To make it short: I love it. And the whole process was a lot of fun, thanks super much to my group.

(Thanks to Frida for being my photographer & to Tinah for doing the light)

The Dressmaking Has Started!

After intense sketching and insperation seeking last week the construction process has finally started this week.

Yesterday I spent thinking out a pattern, today I cut it out, tried it out in cheap fabric and made the last adjustments, then cut the pattern in the real fabric. Tomorrow is sewing time, hooray!

Inspiration: Furniture & Accessories

Just a little inspiration I found besides clothes. Everything can be recycled into something beautiful.

1) Wallet made out of an old casette.
2)Having some left over cable laying around? ;)
3) Nightstand made out of old books.
4) Necklace made out of leftover, single threads.

Inspiration: Music

The music I hear when I work creative is extremely much influencing the way my work turns out. So at the moment these songs here are on heavy rotation..

Tunng - Bullets

Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart

Justice - Stress

The Whip - Trash

Inspiration: Plastic Bracelets

Okay .. now while I'm not a big fan of the colors (black please?), I sure like the idea here: Take old, cheap plastic bracelets (Im sure you were also wearing some when you were young? I even still have some of mine) and turn them into something new.

Unfortunately dont remember on which website of my manic-inspiration-hunt I found these today.

Inspiration: Slashed Jersey

Slashed, ripped jersey is really something Im in love with at the moment. I have tried several DIY versions, but it is actually quiet hard to find jersey that is easy to rip and slash.

Various pictures that I collected during the last days/weeks:
1 + 2: Shirt, available over PixieMarket.com
4: Givenchy men-sandals worn with slashed tights
5: A slashed jersey on Etsy.com
6: Kate Lanphear

The TRASHION Rules

Trash + Fashion = Trashion! Get it? Since our goal is to create new fashionable things out of (among other things) trash (aka recycled materials) it's "Trashion".

So I thought Im gonna try to stick to these three Trashion rules to challenge myself not fall into safe-pieces but think a little bit more out of the box:

1. Make something out of nothing
2. Every piece is one of a kind
3. Dont play it safe

Inspiration: Road Warriors

Last night I watched "Mad Max" and the costumes are just out of controll! Apocalyptic-warrior-awesomeness in black leather, feathers and metal.

"Mad Max" is a 1979 Australian dystopian action film. The film, starring the then-little-known Mel Gibson, was released internationally in 1980. Its narrative based around the traditional western genre, Mad Max tells a story of breakdown of society, murder and vengeance. It has had a lasting influence on apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction ever since.
